Our Dorper sheep are going from stength to strength.  Starting with five ewes and one ram in 2006, we are now nudging the 60 mark in 5 years.  Unfortunately we lost our main ram, "Wyndham Billy" this year but we now have "Wyndham Grumpy", one of our own bred rams, taking over.

Dorpers are "self shearing" sheep that are either white or black faced and here we raise white faced.

Dorpers were created in South Africa in 1942 by crossing Dorset Horn Rams onto Persian Black Headed Ewes.  They were first imported into the UK in 2004.

Dorpers were bred to adapt and flourish under difficult conditions from drought to wet and are extremely hardy in which fly strike is greatly reduced.

Dorper Rams have a mature bodyweight of 100 - 110 kgs and Ewes at 65 - 75 kgs which usually birth one lamb at first and usually two lambs thereafter.

We now just about to start our own boxed lamb sales so please watch this space.
